Adventure Weekend - Is that you?
A weekend guide (Itinerary) for 48 hours in the Grampians. This is for an action packed - get the most of your time in the Gap kind of weekend.
Friday: If visiting Halls Gap for the weekend, most people arrive just before dark on a Friday. My tip, check in then drive up to Boroka Lookout and see the sunset over the Gap, be careful driving back down the mountain, this is when skippy starts to get active across the roads. Enjoy your fist night in the Gap, check out Halls Gap Hotel or Spirit of Punjab - both offer amazing food.
Saturday: Start the day early, pick your hike - so many adventures to pick from, I can recommend, Mount William, The pinnacle (limited time, then start from sundial carpark), Mackenzie Falls, Chatauqua Peak or just some great lookout points such as the Balconies and Reeds lookout.
Get back down the mountain by 1pm, drop into Stoney Creek and grab a takeaway lunch from the Bakery or Livefast Cafe before visiting stu at
E Bikes ($40pp) right in the centre of town.
Hire a bike for an hour and jump on for a blast to Lake Bellfield. Once you get there, perfect place to have lunch before you return to town.
By 2:45pm you are now back in Halls Gap just in time to jump not he 3pm Beer and Wine Blast ($80pp) with Grampians Wine Tours. They will pick you up from the bus stop in town and the next 3 hours you will visit 4 locations including vineyards and pubs with drinks included at each location before finishing at the new brewery - Paper Rock Scissors. Perfect opportunity to just stay at your reserved table and enjoy dinner. If you want to party just a bit more - head over to Halls Gap Tavern, just across the road or if wanting to be dropped back to your accommodation after the tour, that can be arranged.
Sunday: Relax - sleep in a little. Check out 10am. Make the most of your day before driving home. Book yourself in for a ride on Grampians Trike Tours - have a blast around the mountain or just around the base of the town with 30 minutes at $40 for two people. Graham will look after you and if you don't mind getting the wind in your hair, then this is perfect.
Still time for one more adventure!
On your drive out to the Western hwy, drop into Stawell airport and take a spin in a helicopter with Grampians Helicopters. Operating 7 days per week, with flights starting from $70pp (min 2) there are lots of adventure options. Plus your local pilot, with more than 10 years experience will provide amazing commentary as you fly, learning all about the region.
By 2pm you are ready to start the journey home.
We look forward to seeing you again real soon - still lots to do in the Gap!
